Responsibility

The responsibilities and duties for this Estimator/Production Detailer position include, but are not limited to, the following items:

 

  • Systematically break down complex assemblies/projects into manageable subsets.
  • Issue bids by agreed deadlines, complete with all data as required by other departments.
  • Convey details (basis for the estimate; ideas on how to build) of the estimate to Engineering department.
  • Negotiate final acceptable design and price with Engineering and customer, as needed.
  • Review Engineering designs to ensure drawings and work orders match with materials and labor required.
  • Accurate analysis of completed jobs for estimated versus actual dollars and hours.

 

 

Specifications

 

Required

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 5 years extensive practical experience in metal fabrication environment
  • Estimating, material take-offs, labor counts
  • Basic design skills and ability to hand sketch simple designs

 

Preferred

  • Analysis of data, critical thinking skills
  • Relevant technical knowledge and understanding of fabrication trades (cutting/forming/welding/polishing)
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings (weld symbols, BOMs, P&IDs, flat patterns, floor plans)
  • Professional written and verbal skills (proposals, presentations, submittals, communications), fluency in English
  • CAD familiarity (prefer Autodesk suite of ACAD, Inventor, Plant3D, Vault)
  • Creative problem solving ability
  • Must be able to work as a team member, with professional negotiation skills.
  • Must be able to work in a multi-task environment with interruptions
  • Self-starter with limited supervision required

 

Desired

  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • ERP software experience, Global Shop Solutions preferred
  • Ability to use and read precision measurement equipment
  • Experience welding, cutting, polishing and forming metal
  • Similar industry experience
  • 2-year degree

Salary range: $50,000-65,000
